Mark Batterson (Chase the Lion) serves as lead pastor of National Community Church (www.theaterchurch.com) in Washington, DC. NCC was recognized as one of the Most Innovative and Most Influential Churches in America by Outreach Magazine in 2008. Mark has two Masters Degrees from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Chicago, Illinois. He is the author of a best-selling book In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day. His latest release is Wild Goose Chase. He is a daily blogger at www.markbatterson.com. Mark is married to Lora and they live on Capitol hill with their children Parker, Summer, and Josiah.
Dr. J. Michael Feazell (Finding Righteousness) is the Vice President of Grace Communion International. Grace Communion International is a Christian denomination with more than 47,000 members worshiping in about 900 congregations in almost 100 nations and territories.Dr. Feazell earned his M.A., M.Div. and D.Min. degrees from Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California. He and his wife, Victoria, have three children and they live in Hemet, California.
Reverend Dr. William H. Willimon (Go For The Gold) has been a Bishop of The United Methodist Church since 2004. He leads the 157,000 Methodists and 792 pastors in North Alabama. For twenty years he was Dean of the Chapel and Professor of Christian Ministry at Duke University, Durham, North Carolina. Bishop Willimon has given lectures and taught courses at many pastors’ schools and at colleges and universities in the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia. He is the author of sixty books.
Pastor Derik Hines (Gideon) is the Teaching Pastor at Community Church of Joy where he directs the Missions Ministry and oversees various other ministries. Derik has been married to his bride Deborah for almost 28 years. They have been blessed with five daughters, three sons-in-law and two grandsons. In his free time he enjoys spending time with family, taking walks with God, working out, reading, frequenting coffee bars and looking for ways to share God’s love.
Cardinal Justin Rigali (The Eucharist) was born in Los Angeles on April 19, 1935, one of seven children born to Henry Alphonsus Rigali and Frances Irene White. He was ordained a priest by Cardinal James Francis McIntyre in the Cathedral of St. Vibiana in Los Angeles on April 25, 1961.
James Merritt (Second Chance God) is the Senior Pastor of Cross Pointe Church. He was born and raised in Oakwood, Georgia and surrendered his life to Christ as a 9-year-old boy. At age 21, he committed to full-time Christian ministry, and went on to pastor five churches. He has preached around the world to hundreds of thousands of people through television and radio. James and his wife, Teresa, have been married for more than 30 years. They have three sons and one grandson.
Sheila Klopfer (The Love of The Crucified) grew up in New Mexico where her parents served as missionaries on the Navajo reservation. At Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary she received her M.A.Th. and Ph.D. in the areas of Christian theology and Church history. Over the years she has taught middle school and served in the church as a youth minister and worship minister. In 2004, Georgetown College hired her as a Professor in the Religion department where she teaches theology and ministry courses, mentors ministry students, and directs the Christian Leaders Scholars program. In the spring of 2010 she was promoted to Associate Professor and is planning to research theology at the University of Aberdeen during her sabbatical in the fall.
Michael Catt (When Heaven is Silent) has served as Senior Pastor of Sherwood Baptist Church since 1989. The church has 3,000 members and has averaged one hundred baptisms each year. Michael is the author of six books, including the best selling Fireproof Your Life and Prepare for Rain, and Michael has been interviewed by magazines and newspapers including Christianity Today, Leadership Journal, The Los Angeles Times, Atlanta Journal Constitution and other print media. He has appeared on Dr. Phil, The Fox News Channel, CNN Headline News, The Glenn Beck Show, Janet Parshall’s America, American Family Radio, The 700 Club, TBN and Richard Land Live!. He and his wife Terri have been married since 1974. They are the proud parents of two grown daughters, Erin and Hayley.
Doug Batchelor (Finding The Missing Peace) has experienced great extremes. His journey from anti-social, drug-using hermit to soul-winning evangelist has helped shape him into an engaging, popular speaker whom audiences all over the world can identify with and understand clearly even on the most complex Bible topics. Today he is the senior pastor of the Sacramento Central Church in Sacramento, California and the president of the international media ministry Amazing Facts. He also hosts the weekly television program Central Study Hour and the Bible Answers Live radio program, which broadcasts live every Sunday. He can also be seen weekly on Amazing Facts Presents and heard Monday through Friday on the Wonders in the Word radio program. Doug and his wife Karen have five children.
Dr. Steve Harper (Spiritual Disciplines: From Legalism to Liberty) was born in Haskell, Texas, October 20, 1947. He is married to Jeannie Waller Harper; together they have two children and two grandchildren. A few of his recent book titles are: The Way to Heaven (Zondervan, 2003) Talking in the Dark (Upper Room Books, 2007), and A Pocket Guide to Prayer (Upper Room Books, TBD 2011).
Bryan Wilkerson (Consequential Strangers) has served as Senior Pastor at Grace Chapel since September of 2000, having previously served for 16 years as Senior Pastor at Shelter Rock Church in Manhasset, New York. Bryan is a graduate of Wheaton College and Denver Seminary. Additionally, he holds a Doctor of Ministry degree from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. Bryan is a frequent contributor to Preaching Today and The Leadership Journal and enjoys speaking at Camp of the Woods and other conferences. When he isn’t in meetings or preparing messages, Bryan can be found running or biking the back roads and trails of New England. He and his wife, Karen, live in Bedford and have enjoyed 29 years of marriage. They have four children, Kelly (26), Brendan (23), Mark (20), and Daniel (17).
Dr. Johnny M. Hunt (The Blessing of Being Saved) was born July 17, 1952, in Lumberton, North Carolina. He is married to Janet Allen Hunt of Wilmington, North Carolina. They have two daughters: Deanna Hunt Carswell and Hollie Hunt Hixson. In 1996, Dr. Hunt served as President of the Pastors’ Conference of the Southern Baptist Convention. Dr. Hunt is currently serving as President of the Southern Baptist Convention for the term 2009-2010.
Reverend Stanley Samuel Harakas (The Matthew Moment) is a priest of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and is Archbishop Iakovos Professor of Orthodox Theology Emeritus in the field of Orthodox Christian Ethics at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, Brookline, Mass., U.S.A. On January 13, 2001 he was assigned as the priest of Christ the Savior Greek Orthodox Church (the “Hellenic Orthodox Mission of Hernando County”) of the Metropolis of Atlanta, Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. He is married to the former Emily G. Maniates of Boston, MA. They have had five children (four surviving), three grandsons, and three granddaughters. The Harakas’ retired to Florida in July of 1995.
J.P. Moreland (Spiritual Formation and the True Nature of Happiness) (Ph.D., USC; Th.M., Dallas Theological Seminary) is one of the leading evangelical thinkers of our day as a prolific philosopher, theologian and Christian apologist. He is a Distinguished Professor of
Philosophy at the Talbot School of Theology and director of the Eidos Christian Center. With degrees in philosophy, theology and chemistry, Dr. Moreland has taught theology and philosophy at several schools throughout the United States. He has authored or coauthored over forty books, is the coeditor of Jesus Under Fire and a frequent contributor to popular Christian magazines and scholarly journals. Dr. Moreland served ten years with Campus Crusade for Christ, planted two churches, and has spoken on over 200 college campuses, in hundreds of churches, and over 25 debates.
Apostle Price (How Faith Works) is the Founder of Crenshaw Christian Center (CCC) in Los Angeles, California. He began CCC in 1973 and, since then, the church has grown to become a world-renowned ministry which boasts the prodigious FaithDome. Being one of the largest sanctuaries in the country, the FaithDome is a refuge of hope and an oasis of beauty in South Los Angeles with a congregation of about 22,000. A devout husband, Apostle Price has been married to his wife, Dr. Betty Price, since 1953. He is also the proud father of four children and nine grandchildren, most of whom work in the ministry.
Pastor Kevin Gerald (People-ology), along with his wife Sheila, is the Founder and Lead Pastor of Champions Centre (Tacoma and Bellevue, Washington), one of the largest congregations in the Pacific Northwest. Thousands are exposed to Kevin’s life applicable teaching of the Bible through his local and international television program, KevinGerald.tv. Kevin is also a nationally recognized author of several books. Reverend Lee Eclov (Where to Stand), a native of South Dakota, graduated from Trinity College and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He served as an Assistant Pastor at North Suburban Evangelical Free Church in Deerfield for five years, and as Senior Pastor of Chippewa Evangelical Free Church in Beaver Falls, PA (near Pittsburgh) for 14 years. Lee, Susan and their son, Andy, came to Village Church of Lincolnshire (Illinois) in February, 1998. Pastor Lee is an adjunct professor at Trinity Evan. Divinity School, a consulting editor for Leadership Journal, and a columnist for PreachingToday.com, both publications of Christianity Today International.
Dr. Harry L. Reeder (Christ-Centered Disciple Making) serves as senior pastor of the 5,000-member Briarwood Presbyterian Church, birthplace of the PCA denomination. As a pastor/teacher, his philosophy of ministry is drawn from Ephesians 4:11–16: he is called to “equip the saints” to do “the work of the ministry.” Reeder holds a Master of Divinity degree from Westminster Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Reformed Theological Seminary. He is also a graduate of Covenant College, with a degree in history and Bible. He has previously served three churches as Senior Pastor, including Pinelands Presbyterian Church in Miami Florida and Christ Covenant Presbyterian in Charlotte, North Carolina, which providentially grew from 38 to 3,000 in attendance under his shepherding. He and his wife, Cindy, now live in Birmingham, Alabama. They have three adult children and five grandchildren.
Mike Glenn (Why Questions) has an uncanny ability to captivate an audience of people with a contagious fascination for God’s Word. He is the senior pastor of Brentwood Baptist, and since he came in 1991, membership in this congregation has skyrocketed from 900 to more than 7,000. His first book, In Real Time: Young Adult Ministry As It Happens, was released last spring, and it tells the story of the Tuesday night Kairos ministry to our post-modern culture. Pastor Raul Ries (The Cross) is the Senior Pastor of Calvary Chapel Golden Springs and President of Somebody Loves You Ministries. Calvary Chapel West Covina grew out of Raul’s home fellowship as well as his Kung-Fu studio and was soon meeting weekly at an old converted Safeway store. Calvary Chapel Golden Springs (as it is now called) draws between 12,000–14,000 in attendance weekly. Somebody Loves You Ministries, directed by Raul Ries, encompasses Somebody Loves You Radio as well as evangelism, concert outreaches and film/video production. Since its inception in 1993, the Somebody Loves You Ministries have drawn over 340,000 in attendance with some 23,392 registered decisions for Christ.
Earl Palmer (The Truth That Lasts) has served as a minister for over 50 years at numerous churches, including the University Presbyterian Church in Seattle, Wash.; Union Church of Manila in the Philippines; First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley, Calif.; and is currently Preaching Pastor-In-Residence at The National Presbyterian Church in Washington, D.C. Palmer has served on the board of trustees at Princeton Theological Seminary since 1973 and also the board of trustees of New College Berkeley in California. Along with his role in Washington D.C., Palmer is also currently under the auspices of Earl Palmer Ministries, which serves to encourage and build up pastors and laity through its ministry of teaching, writing and mentoring. As part of this ministry, Earl holds two monthly programs in Seattle; a Theological Dialogue for pastors and laity along with a Kindlings Muse Podcast, a discussion that provides regular teaching on major Christian themes. Earl is also author of 18 books, his latest titled Trusting God.
